Revenge of the Sith

The beginning of the movie was very frightening. The scenes are flat, dialogs amazingly dumb – I can imagine McGregor vomiting after every 3rd cut. Very frightening, felt I. Then Grievous…a robot general that coughs…coughs..? A robot?!
The chit-chat between Anakin and Obi-Van when they return Palpatin safely home was unbearable. Man, I started to feel sorry my ticket money.

But then finally something started to happen. Hayden surprised me and played much more impressive Anakin than he did in the AotC. Step by step he built the tension of Anakin going deeper and deeper into the darkness. The scenes between Anakin and Palpatin (while he was still that) are the absolute highlight of the movie. Ian McDiarmid with his amazingly deep voice (is that his real voice?) really nails it home and while the devastation of the Jedis began, I was sure the film is back on the right track.
Sort of a low point is Anakin’s final surrender to the dark side. I don’t know what I expected…or how it should be…but this somehow did not touch me. It’s sure interesting to note that even so wise Jedi Master as Mace Windu fell under the power of rage and anger…wasn’t that the dark side path?

The double duel is amazing, really amazing. Again, Hayden gives good performance of arrogant, guilty-driven, self-doubting and utterly bitter Vader. In the end, it is a good movie, worth seeing. Just ignore first few dozens of minutes.

And – Natalie Portman…so breath-taking. With that long hair, that is.

Can’t agree. Actually, I think Christensen was the weakest of all actors. All of the dialogues, especially between him and Portman, gave you the feeling of being in the wrong movie or something. But that’s just George Lucas’ fault as he has never been able to write decent dialogues in his script. If you’re gonna watch Star Wars (I _love_ Star Wars!) you should just switch off your brains as soon as the film starts.
Grievous has a human “core”, you can see that towards the end of his fight against Obi Wan.
For me, the highlight of the movie was Order 66. Great collection of scenes with just the right music.
That fighting scene with Mace Windu and the Emperor was quite impressing, but from what I’ve heard, it takes the scene in Episode VI on the Death Star where the Emperor tries to kill Luke to a whole new level. This scene must be absolutely awesome now if you have seen Episode III because it has a completely different impact.
Also, I felt that the process of Anakin choosing the path to the dark side, his conflict and all that, wasn’t done very well. And I would have liked the tragedy behind his decision and visions, the fact that his visions only became reality because he chose the dark side in order to protect his wife, be put a little more emphasis on.
Another fabulous scene was the lava “accident”. I always imagined that to have happened in a completely different way. I bet nobody had imagined the scene right that way, and I enjoyed it very much. Certainly very cool.

I did not perceived that as human core, but then again…cough? Simply does not strike a chord with me.

I’m not a huge fan of SW (although I love the series) so I did not know much details nor I had any knowledge of how Anakin actually “lost” his body. With that said, I really like how it was done. Obi-Van warns him not to try anymore, but in his arogancy Anakin does not listen, leaps and.…well. Arogance, lack of patience — two important factors in his fall to the dark side — clearly shown as the means of his (almost total) demise.
I agree that the Order 66 scene is good. The 3rd quarter of movie is certainly the best part.

As usual, different people have different views of the movie, sometimes completely different experiences. I had a good time watching it and that’s all that matters for me.

Yeah, I enjoyed it, too. I just didn’t like all the dialogues between Anakin and Padme, that’s all :)

    My opinion:
ROTS was an amazing movie. All the actors did well but I think Hayden Christensen gave the most brilliant performance of the movie, especially when Anakin turns evil. Ian and Ewan were also pretty good. Natalie Portman was great as Padme, despite the fact she has less screen time than AOTC and TPM. Fortunately, I have no complaints, I liked ROTS so much, I only wished a better ending because it was so sad (I almost cried) but that’s OK.
And last but not least, seeing the suit of Darth Vader again was awesome!

The movie was very good! The Mustafar Scene was incredible.
I have to give a lot of credit to Hayden Christensen who did a spectacular job as Anakin Skywalker (which I never thought I would after seeing AOTC). On the other hand, I was a bit disappointed with Ewan McGregor’s performance but he did OK! Ian McDiarmid, like Hayden, stole the whole show.

Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith is truly a classic! I daresay it was even better than Empire Strikes Back. It’s dark, extremely sad (my best friend and my elder sister both cried and I almost did) but that’s what makes Rots a brilliant movie!!! Anakin’s turn to the darkside was extremely touching due to the splendid performance of Hayden Christensen, the Order 66 scene was touching as well as the Mustafar scene. Ian McDiarmid is great as Emperor Palpatine and Ewan McGregor plays his character well.

  7. Creford says:

There were extremely excellent and the best scenes in the movie “Revenge of the Sith”.
Good originality and great imagination, great story in this movie!

I love Star Wars series the most!
