The Bourne Supremacy
This is one of the best action movies I have ever seen in my life. The Bourne Identity was great, but this one is even better. Pure action, no small talk, no kiddin’ around. Great attention to details, characters speak their own languages. And a hellishly good story. Perfect fast-paced movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Camera moves are sometimes too quick and it’s hard to grasp the sequence, but it only serves to put you more into the seat next to the characters. The Moscow high-pursuit scene is so fucking good that Matrix Reloaded highway scene looks like Need for Speed intro or something like that…So damn realistic. The primary high-point of the Bourne movies – effects serve the story, not the other way around. One does not even notice the effects here, unless reminded about them.
Can’t wait the next one. There must be more – these two parts are so good that they kick ass to all James Bond, Jack Ryan and Etan Hunt combined. Come on, let there be another movie like this.
Embeding Flash in web page
Even though I tend to avoid Flash, I sometimes have to use it, usually because clients wants it to spice up the web. Thus over time I tried many different ways that would not make the page invalid but all had a flaw or two.
I first used Flash Satay which worked pretty good for me, even though people reported strange cases when it did not work in certain Win ver / IE ver situations. And then it hit me with my friend who had Win98SE, IE 5.5 and Flash 7 installed. For no apparent reason, his install (he actually reinstalled because of this) never detected the Flash and always downloaded ActiveX to install. Always. When using embed, it worked. But Flash Satay method did not work. The Twilight Zone moment came when I made the same install he did and it worked there, but still not for him.
Thus I looked further and found Ian Hickson’s example. His code example worked for my friend as well as in any other test case I tried. Ian’s example had one minor problem – it Flash was not available, it did not show the alternate content in IE.
Backslashes gone
The WP bug that waxed me so much in the past months is finally gone. At least here. Wherever I had " (double-quote) inside of pre tag, it would be outputted as \" – always prefixed with backslash.
Tonight I dug in into WP core and found that the problematic part is line 76 in file wp-includes/functions-formating.php. When you remove that line, all is displaying nice.

Since wpautop function is not really required in my case (I write entire HTML for my posts), I instead opted to comment out this filter – it’s line 64 in wp-includes/default-filters.php:

I had a good start. I knew Fernando couldn’t risk too much and I was willing to risk a bit more and it really paid off.
Damn right! It was about time for Montoya to win and what better place to do it than in the McLaren’s home. Kimi was again severely hampered today with engine-penalty, starting from 12th, reaching only 3rd. As I said for the previous race – once you get stuck behind Trulli, you can kiss your race goodbye. Consistency must be important for Jarno… It’s kind of surprising that Schumacher did not even try to overtake Trulli. At least once, but no. I can imagine Kimi’s frustration rising and rising when everyone in front of Trulli going away 1s/lap and he’s stuck behind him and M.S. with higher fuel load.
Shit happens.
Hopefully, in the next race he would start from the place he deserves. And he should really, really learn when to let go – he posted a fastest lap time in the last lap! That’s immature and he should know better by now.
